Thank you to the BHS Unit D members for the strong showing as silent representatives tonight!
We opened tonight’s session by sharing an updated version (first 6 slides) of the presentation shown during our building meetings. This gave the School Committee a clear overview of the priorities that continue to drive our proposals. We demonstrated that our proposals are fiscally responsible and can be implemented within the district’s existing budget—without requiring additional funds from the town.
We closed the session with a notable shift in tone. In response to our packaged proposals for Unit A, the Superintendent shared that she is “starting to feel like there is a path forward” in our negotiations. While no new agreements were reached for Unit A, we had a productive discussion focused on Time on Learning, as well as the essential changes BEA members need around compensation, class size/caseload, and collaboration.
For Unit C, the School Committee offered some responses that suggest minor movement, but their proposals still fall short of resolving that contract.
Please consider joining us as a silent representative on one of our upcoming summer sessions:
- July 17 – Unit C at 5:00 PM
- July 24 – Unit A at 5:00 PM
- July 29 – Unit D at 5:00 PM
- August 27 – Unit B at 5:00 PM
Your presence makes a difference. Let’s keep the pressure on for a fair contract for all.
