Thank you to everyone who rallied with us today!
The presence of 110 silent representatives made a powerful impact. The tone and response from the School Committee noticeably shifted—they finally moved on several lower-stakes proposals they had previously stalled on. Both the bargaining team and silent reps agree: it was the collective presence of BEA members in the room that made the difference.
That said, our key priorities remain unresolved. The School Committee continues to either reject or ignore proposals that are essential to a fair contract:
- Smaller class sizes, manageable caseloads, and time to plan, collaborate, and reflect—because our students deserve personalized attention, stronger lessons, and healthy, effective educators.
- Cost of living increases that keep up with inflation—so educators don’t fall further behind as expenses rise.
- A living wage for the educators who support our most vulnerable students—because their work is essential to our schools.
If you weren’t able to attend tonight, there are two more chances to show up as a silent rep. Your presence truly matters—and will help us get to a fair settlement.
📅 Monday, 5–8 PM – Unit C & D proposals
📅 Tuesday, 5–8 PM – BSC proposal to lengthen the school day + BEA proposals on class size, caseload, and planning time
Let’s keep showing up strong. We are making a difference—together.
