We went into tonight’s bargaining session prepared with full responses for both Unit D and Unit A (BSC Unit A Counter Porposals)  and were optimistic that we would be able to make some significant progress tonight. Instead, we are forced to report that negotiations completely broke down. We did discuss language items related to Unit D in the first part of the meeting. The emotional harm resulting from comments made by a BSC member, where she blanketly dismissed the reality of structural racism and people’s right to due process, led to our team calling for a caucus at 7:45 resultingin our decision to adjourn rather than continue, as none of us felt anything further could be accomplished tonight.

Please find your negotiation team rep or someone who was a silent rep tonight (linked here) to understand more about what happened. We need all hands on deck with as many silent reps as we can get at our next session on June 4th. Clear your calendars now.
