The Belmont School Committee shared two options for salary proposals today, both of which are constrained by their commitment to spending $1.2 million in the first year, and less in the second two years of our contracts. These proposals do not come close to a living wage for Units C or D:
The school committee also withdrew three of their proposals after we reminded them they had made a commitment to do this, and that we had previously withdrawn twelve of our own:
The committee provided us with a partial status document for Unit A proposals:
Finally, the committee offered a meeting schedule proposal that increases the school day on Wednesday by 20 minutes and reduces department and curriculum meetings in trade for an additional 50 minutes of conference time on a Wednesday:
There is an All Member Meeting scheduled this Thursday. Negotiating and contract actions team will be presenting and answering members’ questions. We will also be sharing a plan for escalating actions that we are asking all members to join in collective action in order to get fair contracts settled.
