Today at the MTA we are building local associations of engaged, active and empowered members who want to demand progress for ESPs and all MTA members and want to be part of the action. As our organization gears up to take on the challenges facing public education and public education workers, we need to develop leaders (and leadership teams) who are flexible, collaborative and inclusive, among all constituencies.
The ESP Next Generation Leadership Program will focus on building the individual leadership skills that will enhance the likelihood of organizational success at the local and state levels. The ESP Next Generation Leadership Program is open to MTA ESP members who:
- Are within the 1st three years of leadership in an elected position, or
- Aspire to become a leader, elected or otherwise, in their union or in some other capacity around union and professional issues, community/social justice issues, environmental issues, living wage, etc.
The ESP Next Generation Leadership Program will be held from Friday, February 5, 5:00 p.m. thru Saturday, February 6, 3:00 p.m. at the Quincy headquarters of the MTA.
This session will be a blend of participant self-reflection and self-assessment, along with hard skills to support or supplement your leadership roles.
Topics covered will include:
- Self-Assessment/Self-Awareness – Finding Your “ESP VOICE”
- How to Increase Involvement with Intentional Conversations
- How To Deal with Difficult People
- What Does the MTA Offer You and Your Fellow Members?
