As the new school year begins, we want to remind you that The Massachusetts Child, the MTA’s charitable organization, is here to help you help your students. The Mass Child will reimburse a local up to $250 for the purchase of school supplies for students in need. These back-to-school grants reimburse locals for items such as backpacks, pens, notebooks, index cards and binders purchased by Nov. 30 and given to students who are unable to buy necessary school supplies. Money reimbursed through the back-to-school program will not count toward traditional Mass Child funds available throughout the school year to all preK-12 locals.
All we ask is that locals using the back-to-school grants make purchases for specific students; please do not buy materials for general classroom use. To learn more about The Massachusetts Child, visit the MTA website.
